JOB SUMMARY:

The ER department has immediate openings for part time animal care attendants. These positions will interest individuals with clinical experience who are willing to work in an extremely fast paced and busy environment. You are a team player who shows care and compassion to patients and clients.

Animal Care Attendants (ACAs) are responsible for the daily care of patients. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well being of dogs and cats. ACAs are required to help the RVTs and veterinarians restrain patients. It is essential that ACAs have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle and comforting care for hospitalized pets.

The Critical Care department of the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital – Emergency & Referral Services is looking for a full time Animal Care Attendant with previous experience in an emergency/referral practice. This service specializes in providing care for the more critically ill and injured patients. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for patient care including feeding, walking and ensuring patients are clean and comfortable. Duties will also include housekeeping, safe and comfortable restraint of animals and assisting RVTs, the Criticalist, Emergency Doctors and other Specialists. We have an upcoming opening for this position. The Medical Records Receptionist’s primary function is the maintenance of all patient records, files and the maintenance of the Specialists’ schedules. The incumbent will maintain and manage a well organized medical record filing system, both paper and electronic. Works with Pet Insurance Companies with regards to patient claims. Assists with the maintenance of the hospital software system. Responsible for on site and off site file storage which requires some heavy lifting. Reception back up on an as needed basis. You must be willing and able to work in an extremely fast paced environment and have superior customer service/client relations skills. You are caring and compassionate towards patients and clients.

The successful applicant will receive thorough training from Oncology RVTs and will be supported by our knowledgeable ACAs.
