JOB SUMMARY:

The ER department has immediate openings for part time animal care attendants. These positions will interest individuals with clinical experience who are willing to work in an extremely fast paced and busy environment. You are a team player who shows care and compassion to patients and clients.

Animal Care Attendants (ACAs) are responsible for the daily care of patients. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well being of dogs and cats. ACAs are required to help the RVTs and veterinarians restrain patients. It is essential that ACAs have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle and comforting care for hospitalized pets.

Part Time Registered Veterinary Technician - Dentistry

JOB SUMMARY: The Dentistry Department of the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital – Emergency and Referral Services is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).  The candidate will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to: (1) implementing anesthetic protocols as instructed by the anesthesiologist, (2) anesthetic and peri-operative monitoring, (3) equipment set-up and maintenance, (4) administration of diagnostic tests (5) record keeping, and (6) customer service.

Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital – Emergency and Referral Services is an AAHA accredited state-of-the-art facility dedicated to excellence in professional competency and patient care.

 

HOURS12-20 hours per week

Hours are somewhat flexible. Applicants must be willing to work minimally one 12-hour shift per week, as well as potentially some additional hours. This may include a rotating schedule of days and evenings and, on occasion, weekend emergency cases (non-mandatory).

 

Job Responsibilities:

    • Record keeping and data input
    • Prepare and present estimates to clients.
    • Equipment maintenance
    • Assist in the administrative tasks associated with client care, including intake, discharge, and follow-up

Qualifications:

Part Time Animal Care Attendant - Dentistry Department

POSITION:

JOB SUMMARY:

The veterinary dentistry department at the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Group is looking for an Animal Care Attendant with previous experience in a referral or emergency practice. In this part-time position, the candidate will be responsible for patient care including feeding, medicating, walking and ensuring patients are clean and comfortable. Duties will also include assisting with x-rays, preparing patients for anesthesia-oral procedures, safe and comfortable restraint of animals, proactive assisting (adjusting lights, retraction, handing off instruments, cutting sutures, suction….) of the RVT and the vet dentist with procedures as well as with the flow of daily exams and front office appointments. Instrument care and housekeeping will also be part of the expected duties. The successful candidate will be expected to learn basic veterinary dental terminology sufficient to record dental indices on a dental chart and communicate with clients effectively, updating them frequently through the day as well as performing calls to previous clients promptly the day after and as needed post-procedure. The successful candidate should take an interest in procedures to the point of anticipating when assistance is needed without having to ask as well as being able to assist with some record keeping and relay of discharge instructions. Assistance in obtaining and archiving patient photographs, radiographs and laboratory reports as part of the complete medical record as well as assistance with rDVM communication (eg. timely faxing of medical records) is required.  The candidate should be enthusiastic, motivated and have good communication and interpersonal skills.

 

HOURS12-20 hours per week
